----- BACKGROUND INFO -----
This song is one from my "Beat My Nick"
collection; the first such, to have extra accompaniment
parts added to the vocals and Yamaha DD-7 digital drum
machine sequences. It began life as a beatnik piece (note,
the collection's name), but evolved to what is best desribed
as being somewhere between jazz and rock, with just a touch
of the blues. It's got lots of little tweaks and nifty
effects. I'm quite pleased with the final result.
The instruments used in this song were my voice, my Dean
"Z" electric guitar, my viola, and my Yamaha
"DD-7" digital drum machine.

----- TO HEAR THE ACTUAL SONG -----
This song has been posted online at
songscribbler.com
. It's got lots of little tweaks and nifty effects.
Songscribbler provides preview clips of the music, for
visitors to listen to and decide whether they like it enough
to download the entire song. It only costs 50 cents to
download a copy of the full song; 40 cents of which is paid
to the artist (in this case, me).
Please note, that this was my first time doing this, and
that I screwed up the preview clip selection process. A more
careful and skillful selection of clip would have provided
demonstration of the vocal work (which, I'm quite pleased
with).
(NOTE: The contract on this at songscribbler has expired, so I've posted this in a second, free, place online.)
As of 04/05/08, I'll have this posted at
soundclick.com.

"FIND MY SAUCER"

==============================
===============
INTRO (SPOKEN):
===============
Find my saucer!
===================
MAIN LYRICS (SUNG):
===================
I can't find my flying saucer,
in this world where I'm wandering.
I can't touch my ocean's daughter -
smoke, it hides her dream she sings.
Mountain ranges climb too high;
valleys fall too low.
Whipping sand bites in my eye;
desert winds still blow.
I can't drink my spirit-water;
locked away, behind the rules.
I can't sleep the way I ought to,
in that pain-filled, lonely room.
Clouds of peace all fly too high;
oceans dive too low.
Bitter snow invades my eye;
tundra winds still blow.
I can't find my flying saucer,
standing in the pouring rain.
I can't make my lover want to
be alone with me again.
===========================
BACKGROUND POETRY (SPOKEN):
===========================
Through timeless miles and endless space,
my lovely saucer's sweet embrace,...
Our crew of five in harmony -
in action, what a symphony!
Foolish me, to be so bold,
and tell them I would take a stroll
where humans cluster in their hive -
buying, selling, living, dying,...
So alone; alone, I hide
in back rooms, alleys, sleazy dives,...
They couldn't find me in the mass,
of human minds and human passions.
Would they leave without me, when
I'm not around to be their friend?
Would they find another mate
to fill the empty bed (vacated)?
Homeless, in the elements,
barely seen by humankind,...
Searching, calling for my lover
and the ones who share her mind.
